Pressing Record
Preparation:
Before we start recording we’ll need to setup our project first. If you haven’t already opened Reaper and created your tracks, please do so now. If you need help setting up your project, I can walk you through it here.
Step 1: Arm Your Track(s)
Click the red “arm” button on each track you’d like to record.
Once a track has been armed it WILL record the next time you press record - so always make sure that only the tracks you’d like to record have been armed.
Step 2: Choose Start Position
Choose where you’d like to start recording by clicking on the timeline.
You’ll see the green time indicator move as you click around. Since you usually want to give yourself a few seconds to play or sing a long before recording, make sure to set the indicator back with plenty of time for you to get in the vibe for your take.
Step 3: Press Record
Click the record button to start recording.
If you like shortcuts, you can use CTRL + R on the keyboard.
Step 4: Stop The Recording
When you’re finished recording, just click the same button to stop the recording.
If you like shortcuts, just tap the spacebar.
